Practical Training for Purposeful Teams

People in professional services are experts in what they do, but the marketing side of things can sometimes feel less natural, even uncomfortable.

Our training is designed to make that easier. We help professionals feel confident promoting themselves and their firms in a way that feels authentic and aligned with your wider goals.

We work with people across all levels - from new associates to partners and in-house marketing teams, to build skills that make a difference day to day.

Each training session is priced between £1500 - £2000.

Aligning your team around your purpose

Strategic planning is the key here. We offer three sessions that will give your inhouse team the tools they need to create the right strategic plan for your business. The second is to give individuals the tools they need to support the plan. The last one is to train your inhouse marketing team so they can support the professionals in your company to the best of their ability.

01

Creating a Strategic Marketing Plan

This session will look at the key components for a strategic marketing plan that will drive activity across the whole firm or within individual service/product areas. There will be a combination of practical models and real-world examples to show how a structured plan leads to better decisions and more effective use of resources.

We will look at:

  • Core models and frameworks that underpin strategic planning
  • Application of those models in the ‘real world’
  • A practical template for future plans
  • Best practice to create a plan that delivers and secures engagement from others in the firm

This is about a week’s worth of learning crammed into 2.5 hours. Expect a fast paced session that signposts further reading but attendees will leave with a clear framework and the confidence to ask questions that lead to focused, credible marketing plans.

Personal marketing skills

For many professionals, “marketing” can feel vague or uncomfortable, especially when client work takes priority. But a personal marketing plan doesn’t need to be complicated. It’s simply a practical way to focus on what you can do, where you can make an impact, and how your efforts fit within the firm’s wider goals.

This training helps individuals develop their own marketing plans, realistic, authentic, and aligned with their practice area and strengths. We work with participants to clarify what success looks like for them, and to build a plan that feels achievable alongside their client work.

We explore how to:

  • Identify personal marketing goals that support both individual and firm objectives
  • Play to your strengths and interests when deciding where to focus your efforts
  • Build visibility through practical action - online, in person, and within your networks
  • Stay consistent and accountable without adding unnecessary pressure

Deliverables include:

  • A personalised marketing plan for each participant, with clear actions and priorities
  • A framework for aligning individual plans with the firm’s overall marketing strategy
  • Guidance and templates to help sustain progress beyond the session

We also provide training to inhouse marketing teams who often help to coach their own internal clients, particularly in the areas of marketing and business development. This course is for them.

Personal Marketing Plans - Helping marketers support their internal clients

The session will provide the marketers in the room with tools to help their lawyers create effective, realistic personal marketing plans. It works well alongside existing business or marketing plans but is equally useful where none currently exist.

We will look at:

  • How personal marketing plans fit in to the overall strategy
  • Three core areas for lawyer-led marketing activity: maintenance marketing, positioning and ‘accolades’
  • The ‘marketing adoption curve’ (this is my model and it provides a good list of activities for lawyers to choose from)
  • How to use the personal marketing plan template to guide conversations and build achievable plans

The training lasts 1.5 hours. All marketers will leave with a toolkit they can use at their companies.

We help you structure your planning so that firm-wide goals align across all areas of your business. Our training equips your team to take responsibility for specific parts of your plans and provides the tools they need to see them through.

Deliverables include:

  • Personal marketing plans for individuals within your business.
  • A clear structure for your overall business and marketing plan to guide you through the process. (We can also provide support in writing the plan, if needed.)

Networking

Networking can feel uncomfortable for many professionals, whether it’s uncertainty about what to say, how to start a conversation, or whether it’s even worth showing up. For some, especially those who began their careers during COVID, in-person events can feel daunting. For others, networking has become a performance rather than a genuine exchange.

01

Helping professionals rethink what networking really means

Our training helps professionals rethink what networking really means. We take it apart, not to fix it, but to humanise it. Through discussion and reflection (not role-play), participants explore how to connect authentically and approach networking with curiosity rather than pressure.

We explore how to:

  • Share your story in a way that invites curiosity
  • Spot groups worth joining (and ones to avoid)
  • Ask open questions and respond with “hooks” that lead to real conversations
  • Replace the pressure to impress with the intention to connect

Networking doesn’t have to be about being the most confident person in the room, t’s about being the most curious.

Deliverables include:

  • A personal approach to networking that feels authentic and sustainable
  • Practical tools and prompts to support conversations online and in person
  • Confidence to build meaningful connections that align with your firm’s goals

How to write more effectively online

Most professionals write every day, for websites, articles, social posts, or emails, but few have ever been shown how to write clearly and persuasively for a digital audience. Writing can easily slip into formality, jargon, or filters that dilute your message and make it harder for people to connect with what you’re saying.

01

helping professionals write with more clarity, confidence, and authenticity

This session helps professionals write with more clarity, confidence, and authenticity. It’s about stripping away unnecessary polish and learning how to communicate like a person, not a press release.

We explore how to:

  • Apply George Orwell’s six rules for writing (and a few of our own) to modern professional communication
  • Signpost effectively so readers can follow your message with ease
  • Understand why the first paragraph matters most, and how to make it count
  • Write without filters, developing a voice that feels natural, credible, and human

Deliverables include:

  • Practical tools and checklists for clearer, more engaging writing
  • Confidence to write in a way that reflects both your expertise and personality
  • A framework for reviewing and improving your own content (and your team’s)
